For a fitness project, Alexander sent in a written application to a model agency, around the same time Daniel D. did. He included some photos, most likely party snapshots, that almost made us decline him. Quite frankly, it was I who was the skeptical one. However, the agent, had a certain sixth-sense about these things, so we invited him for a test shoot to Kassel to find out just who he really was behind those pictures.

When I first laid eyes on Alex at the meeting point, my mind was changed. Today, Alex is signed with some known agencies in Germany, and was with us, in Miami, Florida for a clothing catalogue production in early 2002. And if I heard right, he has just (Jan of 2002) been booked for a several day shoot in Turkey; sometimes, things go really quickly.

Let's allow him to introduce himself:  "Hi everyone! My name is Alexander, and I'm from Nuremberg, which is a city in southern Germany. Some months ago, I applied at a modeling agency, and just a few weeks after my application, I had my first shoot with Thorsten Horvath. The results were quite good, and I had another shoot with him in Florida. At the moment, I'm working on developing my portfolio. I'm 18 years old, and am a Senior in High School.  After graduation, I want to go to college. During my free time, I enjoy sports, such as: swimming, skiing in the Alps, handball and working out at the gym.  In the evenings, I love dancing in nightclubs with house or dance music."

There is probably no need to mention that he looks a bit like Leo di Caprio, as he could be his younger brother (or at least his double).  Also, there's no need to point out his well-shpaed body. Though he's certainly no body-builder at 6'1'' (183cm) and just 140 pounds, his thin waist with those sharply defined washboard abs are remarkable.

His slightly roundish face, probably due to his Bavarian (maybe even Slavic heritage), ensures that he doesn't look too thin.  And then, there's that pouty look that he probably copied from Leo.

We had our first shoot together in late October of 2001. Unfortunately, middle Europe is not blessed with the endless Summer of Southern California, and as the year ended, it became colder and colder, and the days  became shorter and shorter. This means that either one needs more layers or clothes, or that we let the models "freeze" a little bit. The decision is quite an easy one for me, though often producing long faces on the models.

Without wanting to be indiscrete, I want you to know that Alex is a very shy and self-conscious young man. For the first ten minutes after we met, he sat
in my car and barely said anything. The few things he did say, with a quivering voice, I had to drag out of him. After a little while, this all settled down, and in the end, after some really charming words from me, he looked into the camera, with an appealing and self-confident expression. Even Kate Winslett would have reconsidered her decision!

I have photographed Alex on several occasions. The most enjoying one, when we really
