I got to know Brandon in August 2000 on the UCLA campus, three days before I flew to Germany for vacation. He was on his way back from the gym, where he bravely spends several hours a week, since he was a child, he says.

A main reason for the California "body cult" is that most young people work out. Most pictures were taken at the Santa Monica beach where even in the fall the sun shines reliably; a true paradiese for photographers.

With Brandon, I worked five times, once in a very impressive big mansion on top of the Hollywood hills (which separate the main Los Angeles bassin from the northern "valley").

The view to southern LA was marvellous and impressionistic, thanks to the haze. The haze, by the way, is not industrial pollution; it is fine sand dust, coming from the desserts south-east of LA, in California and Nevada.
