Christopher
is a friend and model of a photographer friend, P. Michael Perez, in Los
Angeles. When I saw his pictures, I knew I needed to work with him, and
thanks to Patrick, we met in March 2001, shortly before I left sunny California,
back home to Germany. Chris was 18 by the time of the shoot. Let him introduce
himself (Dec 2003):
"I'm 19 years
old, and I was born in San Diego, California. I'm currently living with
my parents in Lancaster, California where I am attending Antelope Valley
College with the intention to transfer with a chemical engineering major.
In the next five years I plan to attend a Cal State University in order
to obtain my bachelor's in chemical engineering. After that I'll probably
end up going somewhere like UCLA to finish my masters degree. Then I just
hope to find a good job and get paid for all of my hard, yet enjoyable
work I've done :)
The first time
I remember thinking about getting my pictures taken was when I met an agent
through someone I knew from Oceanside High School. I ended up shooting
with the photographer that the agent knew, and then went on to shoot with
a number of photographers, such as P. Michael Perez, CMSoto, Sean Bentz, and
Thorsten. I entertained the idea of pursuing a modeling career when
I was younger, but when I realized that It required resources that I didn't
have, then modeling became more of a hobby, and sometimes a way to make
a little extra money.
Thorsten and
I shot at places like UCLA, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica Pier over the
course of a couple of shoots. I remember having a great time
shooting with Thorsten. I also remember being very cold, but once
I saw the results of the shoot, the "discomfort" seemed well worth it.
My current
time is mostly spent going to school, tutoring for my college's math lab,
and enjoying the relationship with my boyfriend of two years. When
asked as to what advice I would give others, I would just talk about some
of the rules I have set for myself after meeting a number of different
types of people. I mainly try to treat everyone equally, attempting to
not hurt anyone while being as honest as possible, and weeding out negative
people from my life before they become a problem. That's the best advice
my inexperienced self can give." |
