Even
though Florida's reputation as a tropical paradise may be a bit overstated,
the atmosphere, charisma and the flair of the place are impressive. It
has snow white beaches, clean streets and wonderful 30°C (85 F) temperatures,
even in late fall.
However, during
summertime, Florida is hot and suffers from 95% humidity, which leaves
one barely able to stand. Whoever can stays inside. "Where there is much
light, there is much shadow", Goethe allegedly said -- even sunny weather
can have its dark side.
In order to
take advantage of the best light a day can offer (which is shortly after
sunrise), on two days that week we voluntarily got up at half past four
in the morning. Cruel, but it was worth it. |
