Back
in Germany for vacation in August 2000, one of my favorite plans was to
shoot with Dennis again. It is surprising how some people change within
few years - compare Dennis' looks with those just 1.5 years before in gallery
1
and 2.
Meanwhile
(2000), Dennis is 19, has his driver licence and drives a cool car (not
the red Mercedes in the pics, though!) attracting quite a few girls, more
or less unvoluntarily ...
Dennis
is now attending a three years education in let's call it professional
waiting". Here in the US, everyone can start his own business or may get
hired if his supervisors thinks he is suited for - no big requirements;
in Germany you need a several year-long education for almost every profession.
This
might be a relict of centuries of the rigide German crafts system ("Das
Gildewesen"), and because of its lack of flexibility one of the reasons
for the still high unemployment in Germany. However, this rigid systems
has its points: Workers and employees with a long and detailed education
have more competence and self-confidence. The error-rate may be lower.
