This Shoot was one of my very early ones (this text has been reviewed in Nov 2002), I was practising, so to say. "No master without exercise", a freely translated old German saying, and if you want to improve your skills, in whatever disciplin, look for "models" and work with them. They get high-quality big prints for free, and offer their time.
 
 

So with Mike, I got to know him early Sunday morning in the "Stammheim", a techno club in my home town. I was impressed by his unusual smooth and fresh skin tone, his chin line which is extremely nicely shaped, and his hair, which has a extremely healthy looking shine, emphasized by a hairstyle cut like with a sharp knife. By the way it is an additional pleasure to see him dancing.
 
 
 

As location we selected the "Bergpark" (mountain park) Wilhelmshöhe, close to Kassel, my home town - check out the huge monument in the background of one of the pics, the "Herkules", the symbol of Kassel. It is, by the way, no "national German" or even Nazi thing - it was built by a former prince way before 1800.
 
 
 

With our pictures, Mike applied for a talent-contest of a popular German youth magazine ("Bravo"), and was selected from the 15000 applicants. The readers voted him until the semi-final.
 
 

By the time of our shoot (1999) Mike has just finished his education for a "restaurator" (somone who reconstructs and renovates old buildings, I am not sure if this is the proper translation) and was looking for a job.
