You
might remember the line from the old song "It never rains in Southern California".
Well, this is actually quite a joke among the locals here! Perhaps
as compared to the rest of the world, anyway, this old saying might just
have some basis in truth. Actually, for 10 out of the 12 months of
the year, here in the land of the oranges, this may well be true, but in
the first months of the year, you are not safe from torrential down pours!
So it was in 2001, when Steve Roberts announced his visit.
As Steve lives
in Toronto, Canada, and needed to fly to LA, we wanted to make sure that
we would have a pleasant, sunny weekend for our shoot. We didn't
have much luck with our scheduling, however, as it kept raining and raining
and raining, literally for weeks on end! Because of this awful weather,
we had to reschedule or appointment no less than twice.
At long last,
finally, we worked out a schedule. Of the three days we had together,
one was sunny, one was windy, and one rainy. Well, at least we had the
whole variety! Even in the rain, one can shoot descent photos (see
Steve holding the umbrella). The umbrella was mine, as I tried to have
some mercy on Steve, as he stood there, drenched to the bone. |
